About BMEL

Business Management and English Language is a unique interdisciplinary degree programme which sets out to train business professionals who possess strong communication skills and a critical understanding of the importance and complexities of language in global business contexts. Combining organizational and business studies with linguistics, this programme will encourage you to consider the role of language in corporate communication, such as branding, marketing and PR, as well as in interpersonal contexts, from intercultural meetings to leadership and management.

The programme takes a practical approach to both subject areas through professionally relevant modules which draw directly on Aston’s ground-breaking research. You will gain a theoretical knowledge and understanding of the English language, how it works in society and organisations, and its role in the world today. You will also gain the academic knowledge and the commercial and leadership skills of business management. With a professional placement year as one of its key features, the programme is geared towards increasing your employability; it is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills required of professionals working in the public, private and voluntary sectors.
